Let It Go by the Zac Brown Band

When the Atlanta, Georgia, area country band formed in 2003 as a trio including singer/guitarist Zac Brown, John Driskell Hopkins and Chris Fryar, they had no idea that they would become one of the most popular country music acts of the decade. Great live performances, chart topping albums, multiple awards, and a true musicianship allowed the band to expand both as a group (with the addition of Jimmy De Martini, Coy Bowles, and Clay Cook) and as a uniquely talented team capturing the hearts of fans worldwide. Collaborations with many of country music’s greatest performers, including Jimmy Buffett, the Dave Matthews Band, Amos Lee, Alan Jackson, Keith Stegall, Blackberry Smoke, and The Lost Trailers, bolstered the group’s dynamite power in songwriting and sound and commercial success. Remarkable lyrics based in themes of happiness, love, heartache, and booze echoed to the strum of steel guitar, fiddles, banjos, and other strings have secured this group as one of the best country bands ever.

“Spent the night with a friend of mine and a handle of good whiskey
We picked guitars and talked about how the glory days we missed ‘em
And it didn’t take too long to find the truth inside that bottle
Cast a-sea so long ago was a message from my father.

You keep your heart above your head and your eyes wide open
So this world can’t find a way to leave you cold
And know you’re not the only ship out on the ocean
Save you strength for things that you can change
Forgive the ones you can’t
You gotta let it go

Looking back now on my life I can’t say I regret it
And all the places that I ended up not the way Ma woulda had it
But you only get once chance at life to leave your mark upon it
And when a pony he comes riding by you better set your sweet ass on it

And keep your heart above your head and your eyes wide open
So this world can’t find a way to leave you cold
And know you’re not the only ship out on the ocean
Save your strength for things that you can change
Forgive the ones you can’t
You gotta let it go

Like a sweet sunset in Georgia let it go
And like the fear that grabs a hold ya let it go
La la la la la la (let it go, let it go) let it go La la la la la la (let it go, let it go) let it go

You keep your heart above your head and your eyes wide open
So this world can’t find a way leave you cold
And know you’re not the only ship out on the ocean
Save your strength for things that you can change
Forgive the ones you can’t
You gotta let it go
Learn to let it go ”
